Not quite sure where you got that from ? both are designed for video. ie DVD-Video, the only media designed for data is DVD-RAM. Most newer players these days can play both without a problem, but older DVD Players will not even look at a DVD+R disk..... Is this correct ? No, there is not a solid rule for support,

Toshiba also has added dvd-ram support. Mh. I think Toshiba (a DVD-RAM backer) has added DVD-RW support to its drives this year. Its all happening because its a new multi format passed by the dvd forum. No. Again: DVD-Multi means NOTHING. It is a final try to keep DVD-RAM support in some products.

DVD-RAM-Support in CD-ROM driver?
The trick would be to let a DVD-RAM drive believe that a CD is a DVD so that it will write on it as much data as it would write on a real DVD support. I'm not telling it works...I would just like to know if anyone with a DVD-RAM could try doing this, see what happens and let us know :-) I just don't know anyone

You can use the plug-in to browse to a standard DVD-R (or DVD+R/DVD-RW/DVD+RW) disc and extract MPEGs from .VOB files recorded in Video_TS folders. Solaris Write Support For DVD-RAM?
DVD-RAM is 2048 bytes/sectors hard-sectored. Filecore only supports sector sizes of 512 bytes/sector and 1024 bytes/sector FileSwitch has supported 2048 byte buffers since RISC OS 3.7. It was intended to add this support for Ursula Filecore, but I can't find any information on whether it did or not.

However, the drive will not be able to read or write to DVD-RAM discs for the reason Spud mentioned, no UDF support. Haven't tried them myself yet but they should in theory allow CD-ROM/DVD ROM support in DOS. You won't be able to read DVD RAM cartidges as DOS has no UDF support at all.
